Rescue Rio
Rescue Rio is a collaborative effort between God and a woman He created to love and care for horses. It is an organization that is steered by the will of God. It is an organization that created a place to care for horses in need of a safe and loving home, dedicated to their physical and mental rehabilitation.

Tucked away on a charmingly beautiful ranch in the Texas Hill Country,
Rescue Rio provides acres of land for our horses to receive the care and love they deserve.
In our greener pastures, they can safely run free and graze in peace within the safety of our herd.

OUR GOALProvide a safe and loving sanctuary for horses to heal and thrive as naturally as possible. |
Our work began in 2020 when Rio came to us sick and infested with parasites, in desperate need of a gentle hand and heart. After his recovery and rehabilitation, he became the start of something bigger than any of us could have imagined when he came through our gates.

Rescue & Heal
First and foremost, our priority is to give horses in need a safe environment to grow and heal. We believe every living being deserves a home that loves and cares for them, and are happy to open our gates to horses in need.
|
Rehabilitate
This is the time at our farm when the horses start their rehabilitation and training. Our goal is to help them heal from past traumas and learn to be in healthy connections with people, either again, or sometimes for the first time in their lives. Each horse is unique, with their own experiences in their life and their process will each be different as well as their time line.
|
Adopt & Rehome
As horses are accepted in to the rescue they will stay for as long as it takes for them to be rehabilitated or trained and they are ready to go on to a new forever home. Not all of our horses will become available for adoption. This will be determined by each individual horse’s needs. The adoption process is very selective and includes time for interested people to spend time with us and the horses they are interested in adopting to get to know them and find out if they are a good match.
